Blålig, meaning blue-like, is inspired by the soft, violet hues of a Nordic summer dusk — that fleeting moment when the air cools, the light lingers, and time seems to slow.
It evokes long evenings spent outdoors with food and drink, surrounded by loved ones, as the sun slips gently toward the horizon and cicadas begin their song.
When day quietly gives way to night, Blålig captures that calm, glowing transition.
Designed to Match
The Blålig duvet cover features a backside in the solid color Gråblå (greyish blue). Complete your Blålig duvet cover set with matching Gråblå fitted sheet, top sheet, or a full sheet set for a seamless look. Add solid color pillowcases to finish the set with style.

100-Day Returns

Not all linen is created equal. While some bedding is made from flax grown in regions that rely on heavy irrigation or intensive agricultural inputs, our bedding is crafted from traceable European flax sourced from France, Belgium, and the Netherlands — the natural home of the world’s finest linen, often referred to as the Flax Belt.
Flax grown in this region is naturally rain-fed and well suited to the local climate, producing long, strong fibers that result in linen that’s softer, smoother, and more durable over time. It’s where quality meets thoughtful sourcing — naturally.

"We loved our queen duvet and matching grabla sheets so much that when we got a different size bed, we bought another set. A double splurge! Great quality, beautiful design! One note, the pattern on the duvet has faded a little bit on the side that gets a lot of direct sunlight, but that makes me love them even more because I feel like they're probably not full of chemicals that would withstand that!"
"Very satisfied with the quality, fabric, and design!"
"I am so pleased with my new duvet cover and pillow shames. They are so pretty and made a nice difference in the look of our bedroom. I will order from Modern Dane again!"
"We're very happy with the Blalig Duvet Cover set. The feel is very soft, and the print livens up the bedroom. Would recommend!"
"This duvet is so soft, comfy and beautiful! I debated the purchase because of the cost but this is a case of "you get what you pay for" and since I spend 1/3 of my day in contact with the fabric I thought it would be worth it. I have a queen size bed but got a twin duvet and it covers from end to end. No regrets!"
"I know the sheets get softer as I wash them, but they started much rougher and more uncomfortable than I hoped. I really like the color and design. The duvet is softer than the sheets."
"I love it. First, I thought the colors look a little bit faded, but it depends on the light, it's just perfect. It's soft and comfortable, thinking about to get the fitted sheet too."
"I just adore this gorgeous duvet; it's the missing piece in my beloved sanctuary. It looks and feels luxurious and playful - and the color is my favie. I'm in love :)"
"I bought my first Modern Dane duvet and pillow shams in the Blälig pattern in 2019 and they have literally been on my bed ever since--I love the pattern so much I don't use any other duvet, and the pillowcases work with all my solid color sheets. A few years later I added in a second set of pillow shams, and that showed me the first set had faded considerably over time, so I have taken care to wash the newer set less frequently and always hang them dry. I am about to replace the duvet cover only because my dog slept on it and left a number of stains on the patterned side; it's gotten pretty faded from washing, but it's still in good shape after 7 years of constant use and I'll probably keep it to use as a backup or for a guest bed. The quality and softness of these linens are top notch; yes, they're expensive, but if you invest in a couple of sets of these sheets you will not need to replace them for a very, very long time. I'm also ordering a set of the white linen sheets to replace a set by another manufacturer that I've worn holes into; very excited to have my entire bed in Modern Dane."
"Love the print! Beautiful palette and high quality fabric!"
WHY OUR LINEN IS SO COMFORTABLE
SOFT
Our garment washed European linen naturally feels supple and soft. And the fabric becomes even softer with every wash!
THERMOREGULATING
Flax linen's hollow fiber allows it to breathe, keeping you cool in the summer and cozy in the winter.
HYPOALLERGENIC
Our high quality flax linen is naturally hypoallergenic and anti-bacterial. This makes it a great choice for sensitive skin.
ABSORBENT
Flax linen absorbs 20% of its own weight without feeling damp, keeping your skin dry and you comfortable throughout the night.
PEACE OF MIND
Comfort is a state of mind as well. Our linens are Oeko-Tex 100® Class 1 certified - your guarantee that what you sleep in is free from harmful chemicals.
ZERO IRRIGATION
The only water our European flax needs is provided by rainfall saving 100 billion gallons of water annually over cotton farming - or what New York City uses in 470 years.
ZERO CHEMICALS
The transformation of flax into linen is an entirely mechanical process performed by highly skilled craftsmen using no chemicals.
ZERO POLLUTION
Flax is naturally resistant to pests and requires zero pesticide or defoliants and five times less fertilizer than cotton.
ZERO GMO
Certified European flax is guaranteed to be GMO-free, a commitment signed by all our growers as part of the European Flax Charter.
CO2 REDUCTION
Every year, the growing of flax in Europe captures 330,000 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere.

"I’d been looking for the perfect duvet cover for a long, long time. I found it here.
The linen feels and looks like truth, like true organic earth. I am in love with this soft gift. Nothing is overdone except the attention to detail. Soft and beautiful. It is obvious that this bedding was created with great care.
I’ll be buying a second set soon for my cabin in the woods."
